I PROMISE

YOU

THIS TIME IT’S

TRUE

performance

in a

time of

exhaustion

This expanded choreographic project highlights how we perform our convictions, personal truths and beliefs in a time of exhaustion. The project centres on the convictions that anchors us amid the uncertainty of our times. Considering how easily these can be severed & what is lost to us when we hold too tightly to them? It explores the ways in which we speak to each other, whether verbally, physically, materially and use conversation, portraiture and archive as performative and choreographic tools. The project takes many forms; photographic, filmed and performance, collectively building a series of choreographic vignettes that actively work with the community and/or audience as performers and collaborators. Stylistically, the work wants to attempt to treat dance like a podcast, conversation as articles of truth and objects as movement.

This project has been supported by Minderoo Foundation Artist Fund, Creative Australia, The Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport WA, ImpulsTanz Festival (Austria).

ATLAS

Impulstanz 2025

FIVE weeks of choreographic research into core themes and the development of a responsive ensemble model that blurs the line between being an audience member and performer. The research was reduced down to a series of individual tasks that could unfold amongst the viewing collective. These tasks embodied the responses taken from ATLAS peers about their beliefs but also from personal research into a range of existing materials and texts. The ensemble method bring engage individual convictions by asking them to consider what they know to be true in brief moments within this constructed landscape. The ATLAS mentor was Guy Cools.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body, the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) in Western Australia, and ImpulsTanz Festival.

It's the end, friend of mine
It's the end, friend of mine

time is over where we could simply say I love you
Now you opened the door
Leave me crying
Trying to embrace you again
Trying to face this damn situation man
I can't
It's the end, friend of mine
It's the end, sweet friend of mine

dear friend, I cannot tell the reasons why we started well
Good time, give me some wine when you open the door You seem hurt, don't try to speak a word to me
What on earth could really go wrong with you and me?
Yet its the end, friend of mine
It's the end, sweet friend of mine

time seems to be over where we could simply say I love you
Now you opened the door
I feel cold Wakened, I hold you in my arms Told you that life is short but love is old
It's the end, friend of mine
It's the end, sweet friend
